Loosie

fever dream pop // brooklyn, ny

Loosie makes “fever dream pop”—dreamy, lyrical, and dynamic indie rock. The Brooklyn band’s music spans major contrasts, sonically (from stark, open space to heavy, punishing density) and emotionally (from opiated detachment to grounded vitality). Their songs, written by drummer Alex Kirkpatrick and sung by Sara McDonald, deal with loving, growing up, and searching for purpose while feeling trapped in endless consumption and communication and torn from human feeling.

Loosie has performed at Brooklyn Bowl, The Sultan Room, Knitting Factory, and Saint Vitus in NYC and opened for Juana Molina and The Naked and Famous. They released their debut album, Solvents in the Dream, in 2017. Their music draws from shoegaze, post-rock, jazz, experimental and improvised music, and bedroom pop, and the influence of My Bloody Valentine, Stereolab, Broadcast, Alex G, Neil Young, Frank Ocean, and Chris Weisman.

Love Hotel, Loosie’s second album, was released in January 2023.

"'Today' is a cinematic soundtrack for life’s everyday moments. Equal parts reflection and inspiration, on this song Loosie captures the heartbeat of a city and condenses it into a sweeping, dream-pop epic." - The Revue

"Loosie’s distinctively scruffy, psychedelic songs are tight, but also very unpredictable. Drummer/bandleader Alex Kirkpatrick’s tunesmithing doesn’t fall into typical verse/chorus patterns, and as with the best abstract art, it’s not easily categorized. This band is all about setting a mood." - New York Music Daily
